 “My most beautiful Christmas tree" This was the theme of the Christmas market painting competition 2008. This year, 87 children took part in the painting competition.
Judging took place December 8, 2008. And who better to judge the works of children than other children?

 Im Herbst des Jahres 1853 wurde die Lauschaer Seppenhütte - heute die Farbglashütte Lauscha - von Elias Greiner Vetter Sohn offiziell in Betrieb genommen. Seither prägt die Hütte das Bild der Stadt, sie ist das glühende Herz der traditionellen Glas- region rund um Lauscha. Gefertigt wird auch heute noch ausschließlich per Hand. Staunend stehen täglich die Besucher beim Erlebnisrundgang vor den Glasmachern, die aus glühender, flüssiger Glasmasse Röhren, Stäbe aber auch Gläser, Teller, Vasen, Rosenkugeln bis hin zu Tischplatten entstehen lassen.

Bead design days 2006 - Fascination Glass Beads |

As early as 4,000 years ago, the first glass beads were made. Later, in ancient Rome, glass beads were made predominantly to imitate expensive jewels and in the 15th century you could trade glass beads for anything you wanted: Oil, gold, silver and even African slaves were exchanged for glass beads. And on the subject of beads and trading there was a weekend on August 26 and 27, 2006 when hobby bead artists and designers from all over Germany and the world, met in the Farbglashuette Lauscha, and the entire weekend revolved around the world of the glass bead.

An extraordinary concert in front of the melting furnace |

The Farbglashuette Lauscha enriched the town’s cultural life with a completely extraordinary concert in December 2006. The Jena Jubilee Singers, Gospel choir from Friedrich-Schiller-University traveled to Lauscha and gave a Christmas concert right in front of the melting furnace on the third weekend of Advent.
